VEX Robotics
For next academic year, ESF South Island School is planning to work with VEX Robotics, an educational robotics platform that provides students with the opportunity to design, build, and program robots to compete in various challenges. Youth4Youth decided to hold a session to introduce VEX Robotics to the students and encourage them to sign up for this robotics extracurricular activity.
Students were able to use the VEX Robotics platform to learn Python and Block Coding using VEXcode VR where we taught them how to bring STEM concepts to life using virtual robots. We taught the students how to program the VR Robot to create a spiral, geometric drawing. It was amazing to see all the spiral artworks that the students created!
We also took the students through a Dynamic Wall Maze activity where they learnt how to programme the virtual robot to complete mazes. Another fun activity was Castle Color Match where the students learnt how to code to complete challenges like using the electromagnet to pick up and place three disks of each colour inside each coloured goal, then hide the remaining three disks behind the wall around the castle!
